Exam Rules
The following rules apply to both the midterm and final examinations.
Format: Online via eDimension using Lockdown Browser. Question types include MCQ, multiple answer, matching, fill-in-the-blanks (autograded), and short answer (manually graded). Some questions may require drawing on provided answer sheets.
Cheat sheet: One A4 sheet, double-sided. Must be handwritten (ink on paper or tablet, then printed). No pasting of diagrams.
Calculator: Non-programmable scientific calculators only. Graphing and programmable calculators are not allowed. eDimension calculators may also be used.
Devices: Use your own laptop only. No external monitors, iPads, phones, or other devices as extra screens.
Arrival: Be at the venue at the stated reporting time. Late entry past the exam start time is not permitted and results in automatic zero (unless you have an approved LOA).
Lockdown Browser: You must test Lockdown Browser before each exam. Problems encountered on exam day will not result in extra time if you did not test in advance.
Specific dates, times, venues, and material coverage for each exam are listed in the Class Calendar.
Quiz Rules
Quizzes are open book, 20 minutes, conducted on eDimension during Tuesday lectures. No Lockdown Browser required. There is no backtracking within the quiz.
Each person receives the same question types and topics, but with different variants and randomised order. Pay attention to the pre-quiz announcement about the number of questions and marks so you can manage your time.
The lowest-scoring quiz out of four is dropped. There are no makeup quizzes.
Late Submissions
Late submissions for class activities, labs, and programming assignments receive zero credit. There is no partial credit or late penalty system. Please be punctual with all submissions and checkoffs.
Leave of Absence and Makeup Exams
You are entitled to one makeup exam (midterm or final) with a valid LOA from MyPortal.
Before the exam starts, you must:
- Apply for LOA via MyPortal
- Personally notify Natalie via Telegram (@natalieagus) or email
- Ensure your MC covers the exam day and indicates “unfit for exam”
- MC must be obtained face to face with a doctor
Upon LOA approval, one makeup date will be arranged. Failure to attend the makeup exam will result in zero for that exam.
Academic Honesty
Everything you submit must be originally authored by you (or your group for group assignments), except content from the official course textbooks.
If you copy, quote, or paraphrase from any other sources (friends, classmates, previous students’ work, solution manuals, other textbooks, or any internet resources), you must explicitly reference the sources. Automated tools will be used to check for plagiarism.
During quizzes and exams, you must attempt all questions independently. No internet references or communication of any kind with others are allowed.
First offence: Zero for the assignment or quiz, plus a letter of apology addressed to the whole cohort.
Subsequent offences or exam cheating: Immediate failure for the course and disciplinary action from the school.
Whistleblowing
If you need to report concerns about plagiarism, cheating, or team members not contributing, you may contact the instructors directly or use the anonymous reporting form (available on eDimension). Your identity will remain anonymous.
